Los Angeles, May 2, 2017—-Fandom Charities Inc.® presents the second annual WhedonCon May 19-21, 2017, a three-day con run by fans for fans celebrating the works of Joss Whedon and the talented people of the Whedonverse to raise money for charity. WhedonCon 2017 will take place at the Warner Center Marriott in Woodland Hills, CA. WhedonCon 2017 marks the 20th anniversary of Buffy the Vampire Slayer and the 15th anniversary of Firefly.
Special confirmed guests to date include: Guest of Honor Emmy Award-winning Writer/Producer David Fury (Buffy, Angel, Lost, 24, Fringe), Marvel’s Daredevil TV series season 1 and Dark Horse Comics’ Buffy the Vampire Slayer and Angel & Faith writer Christos Gage, Emmy-nominated Producer/ Showrunner, Writer and Director Tim Minear (Dollhouse, Angel, Firefly, American Horror Story), Buffy's Nicholas Brendon, Miracle Laurie (Dollhouse), Stunt Coordinator, Stuntman Director and Actor Jeff Pruitt (Buffy), Sophia Crawford (Buffy), Harry Groener (Buffy), James Leary (Buffy), Camden Toy (Buffy, Angel), Andrew Ferchland (Buffy), actor and stuntman Damion Poitier (Angel, Dollhouse, Firefly), Farscape’s Gigi Edgley, and Actor, stunt coordinator Steve Tartalia (Buffy, Angel). Additional special guests are being announced each week by the conference.
WhedonCon is organized by the same team which hosts the Buffy Musical during the San Diego Comic Con and the Dr. Horrible Sing-Alongs during WonderCon and on Halloween in Los Angeles.
This year in memory of Ron Glass (Firefly, Serenity, Barney Miller) Fandom Charities will be raising funds for the Al Wooten Jr. Heritage Center, a youth center that was dear to his heart. Memberships to participate in the festivities are now available and can be attained by visiting whedoncon.com. Hotel rooms are also currently available with an early bird discount and contest for a limited time at the Warner Center Marriott (21850 Oxnard St, Los Angeles, CA 91367).
