MUSIC EMPORIUM WILL OFFER FIRST-TO-MARKET PRODUCTS INCLUDING AVENGERS: ENDGAME 12” VINYL PICTURE DISC
BURBANK, Calif., June 20, 2019 – Disney Music Emporium, the online destination for collectible Disney music products, returns to D23 Expo 2019 with a pop-up store on the show floor. Over the three-day Ultimate Disney Fan Event, the Emporium will feature album signings by artists and award-winning composers. Limited quantities of a wide assortment of music products will be available, including new releases from Marvel and Lucasfilm, vinyl albums, die-cut picture disc vinyl, cassettes, Crosley turntables, cassette players, posters, and more. Additionally, visitors to Disney Music Emporium will be able to pre-order the Matthew Morrison Disney album.

In addition to the 23 new offerings available at D23 Expo 2019, 10 titles are first-to-market, including Avengers: Endgame (12” picture disc), Aladdin: The Songs (vinyl album), “I Just Can’t Wait to Be King” (12” vinyl single from The Lion King), “Star Wars: Galaxy’s Edge Symphonic Suite” (12” picture disc), “Married Life”/”Carl Goes Up” (12” vinyl from Up), The Princess and the Frog: The Songs (12” picture disc), and “The Sorcerer’s Apprentice” (12” single from Fantasia).
Album signings at the Disney Music Emporium shop include Oscar®- and Grammy®-winning composer and Disney Legend Randy Newman (Toy Story films, The Princess and the Frog, Cars films); composer Tyler Bates (Marvel Studios’ Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2 and Marvel Studios’ Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 1); actor Anthony Gonzalez (voice of Miguel from Coco); singer-songwriter, actor, and dancer Matthew Morrison (Glee); plus Hollywood Records artist JD McCrary (voice of young Simba in The Lion King). Scheduled artists subject to change.
Randy Thornton, Disney Music Group’s Supervising Producer and Music Historian, will present “Great Moments with Walt Disney,” on Friday, August 23, at the Archives Stage from 10:30 a.m. to 11:30 a.m. The Grammy-winning producer will present audio recordings of Walt Disney as he recalls developing the first cartoon with synchronized sound, creating Disney’s first hit song, and meeting Russian composer Sergei Prokofiev.

(June 18, 2019) – Kids, tweens, and families can meet their favorite Disney Channel and Disney Junior stars during three fun-filled days at D23 Expo 2019, the ultimate Disney fan event, taking place FRIDAY, AUGUST 23 – SUNDAY, AUGUST 25 at the Anaheim Convention Center in Anaheim, California. With special appearances scheduled daily, fans are invited to stop by the Walt Disney Television booth on the Expo show floor to meet and take pictures with some of their favorite stars from hit Disney Channel series and movies. Popular Disney Junior characters Fancy Nancy and Vampirina will also be on hand to greet young fans over all three days. In addition, the schedule features a Q&A session, including a special appearance by the world's most famous amphibian, Kermit the Frog, as he joins the creators and voices behind Disney Television Animation’s hit series Amphibia and Big City Greens, taking place at Stage 28 on Saturday, August 24.
 
A limited-edition collection of T-shirts from classic Disney Channel favorites, including High School Musical, Hannah Montana, and Camp Rock, among others, will be available for purchase exclusively to D23 Expo attendees in the Walt Disney Television booth.

New Cutting Edge Slo-Mo Video Capture Offers Guests a Memorable Souvenir of Their Daring Escape from the Tyrannosaurus rex and Indominus rex
Universal City, CA, June 17, 2019 – Costa Rican-inspired cuisine and flavorful Tiki cocktails served at Jurassic Café and all-new tropical Isla Nu-bar add to the dynamic guest experience as part of Universal Studios Hollywood’s new mega attraction opening this summer, “Jurassic World—The Ride,” based on the JURASSIC WORLD blockbuster films.

Along with an array of souvenir collectible, limited edition and one-of-a-kind dimensional dinosaur sculptures from the Jurassic Outfitters store, guests can savor a piece of this exciting thrill ride even after they’ve gone home.

Borrowing its name from the fictitious Central American island in the JURASSIC WORLD movies, the stand-alone, open-air Isla Nu-bar, complete with a thatched roof, serves up tropical-themed Tiki cocktails in three collectible cups:  Etched Tiki, Bamboo-styled Tiki and Tiki God.
​​Whether blended or made-to-order with fresh juices, every aromatic blended drink is adorned with a pineapple leaf and edible orchid flower. Flavorable beverages include Tropical Margarita, Piña Colada and Painkiller, along with island cocktails such as Tiki Tai, Bird of Paradise, Ti Peach, Rum Runner and Mai Tai.
​With Universal Studios Hollywood’s Executive Chef Marie Grimm at the helm, the new Jurassic Café caters to a selection of Costa Rican-themed cuisine, inspired by the location of the JURASSIC WORLD movies.  Mouth-watering menu items include Sweet Corn Cakes with Slow Roasted Mojo Pork or Spicy Mojo Jackfruit, Citrus Glazed Chicken, Fresh Roasted Red Snapper and Isla Burger. Tempting starters include savory Chorizo and Potato Empanadas, Crispy Lettuce Leaf Roll with Shrimp, Tropical Fruit Salad and Pomegranate Guacamole with plantain chips.  All entrees will be accompanied by fresh green papaya salad and Costa Rica’s national dish, Gallo Pinto – traditional rice and beans.
The Jurassic Outfitters store will feature a variety of collectable merchandise to commemorate the ride’s opening, including a selection of exclusive items. More than 70 Spectacular Costumes Spanning 55 Years—from Mary Poppins to this Summer’s Aladdin—Will Be on Display
BURBANK, Calif. (June 4, 2019) – The Walt Disney Archives returns to D23 Expo with an all-new exhibit, “Walt Disney Archives Presents Heroes and Villains: The Art of the Disney Costume.” From the classic Mary Poppins to this year’s live-action retelling of Aladdin, more than 70 costumes from 55 years of Disney movies and television shows will be on display from August 23–25 at the Anaheim Convention Center during the biennial event, presented by D23: The Official Disney Fan Club.  
 
Guests entering the 12,000-square-foot exhibit will be greeted by “Cinderella’s Workshop,” a gallery featuring the beloved fairy-tale character’s dresses from her numerous Disney incarnations, including 1997’s Rodgers and Hammerstein’s Cinderella; the gown worn by Scarlett Johansson for Annie Leibovitz’s 2007 Disney Dream Portrait series; 2014’s Into the Woods; the 2015 live-action reimagining of the animated masterpiece Cinderella; and the ABC hit series Once Upon a Time. 
 
The main gallery will be broken into three sections: “Disney Heroes,” “Disney Villains,” and “Spaces Between,” reserved for the antiheroes whose fascinating journeys make them among Disney’s most complex characters.
 
Among the costumes included in the “Disney Heroes” section are Belle’s village dress and ballgown from 2017’s Beauty and the Beast; creations worn by the Genie, Aladdin, and Jasmine in this year’s live-action Aladdin; and—for the first time ever displayed together—three iconic Mary Poppins “traveling dresses” worn in three Poppins productions: the 1964 original film, 2019’s Mary Poppins Returns, and the Broadway musical. “Disney Villains” ensembles include the trio of wonderfully wicked witches from 1993’s Hocus Pocus, the duo of dresses worn by the stepsisters in 2015’s Cinderella, and the dress worn by the incomparable Bette Davis in 1978’s Return from Witch Mountain. And “Spaces Between” includes Maleficent’s gown from the 2014 film, as well as the Evil Queen and Hook’s costumes from Once Upon a Time.
 
The exhibit includes costumes from some of Hollywood’s preeminent designers, past and present, including Academy Award®-winners Colleen Atwood, Sandy Powell, and Tony Walton, as well as Emmy® winner Ellen Mirojnick and Emmy nominees Eduardo Castro and Penny Rose.
 
Many of the costumes on exhibit will be featured in The Art of Disney Costuming: Heroes, Villains, and Spaces Between, a dazzling new book out this September from Disney Editions. The book will also be available in advance exclusively at D23 Expo.

Universal Studios Hollywood Celebrates Independence Day with Its First-Ever July 4th Fireworks Spectacular

The Inaugural Salute to the Stars and Stripes is Included in the Price of Admission to Universal Studios Hollywood
Universal City, California, June 3, 2019 – Universal Studios Hollywood lights up the night sky with its first-ever July 4th fireworks celebration, inviting guests to enjoy a spectacular aerial display that will take place in multiple locations within the theme park.

This exciting new addition is included in the price of admission to Universal Studios Hollywood.

As the spirit of Independence Day sweeps across the theme park, guests can toast the day by enjoying the theme park’s many popular rides and attractions, before the festive pyrotechnics extravaganza, synchronized to a score of Universal-themed music and patriotic favorites, begins at 9:30pm.

Aqours (pronounced “aqua”) is the school idol group formed in Uchiura, Shizuoka, for the multimedia project “Love Live! Sunshine!!” The project started in April 2015 and spread across various media including CDs, live events, magazines, and mobile apps. The first single “Kimi no Kokoro wa Kagayaiteru kai?” was released in October 2015. Season One of the TV Anime aired during the summer of 2016 followed by Season Two during the autumn of 2017. In 2019, an anime movie was released which attracted a large audience. Aqours also actively held live performances, and on November 17, and 18, 2018, their 4th live concert was held at Tokyo Dome. They performed in front of 150,000 fans from the venue audience to the live viewings worldwide. Aqours will hold concert LOVE LIVE! SUNSHINE!! Aqours World LoveLive! in LA ~BRAND NEW WAVE~ at Anime Expo 2019!

LONG BEACH, CA - If you’re a fan of spirits - the kind that come crafted in a glass - you’re in for a serious treat! Midsummer Scream, the world’s largest Halloween and horror fan convention, will host a panel presentation featuring the most sinister bars and breweries on the West Coast!
 
On Saturday, August 3, Spooky and Strange Themed Bars of California will take a detailed look at five very unique establishments found in Los Angeles and Orange County, along with their creators. This intoxicating presentation will feature Lara Hanneman from The Cauldron (Buena Park), Ryan Hughes from The 4th  Horseman (Long Beach), Martin Svab  from  Phantom Carriage (Carson), Zach Neil from  Beetle House LA (Los Angeles), and Bryan Davis from Lost Spirits Distillery (Los Angeles); Midsummer Scream Creative Director, Rick West, will moderate.
 
During the presentation, the concept, inspiration, and challenges behind each company will be explored as Midsummer Scream guests are given a unique insider’s look at what it takes to create a successful themed bar in California, a region with some of the hottest lounges and notable taverns in the world.

[PHOENIX, AZ, May 2019] Dennis O'Neil, who is celebrating his 80th birthday today, has been an integral and influential part of the comic book industry since the 1960s. In tribute to and appreciation of his contributions to the comic book industry and his impact on American society, Mayor Kate Gallego proclaims May 25th, 2019 "Denny O'Neil Day."

Please join Denny O'Neil, the staff of Phoenix Fan Fusion, the President of Hero Initiative, and the office of the Mayor of Phoenix on Friday, May 24th at 2 p.m. for a presentation of the proclamation, celebration in honor of Denny O'Neil, and Q & A session for all attending press and media. The presentation will be held in room 120CD of the North Building of the Phoenix Convention Center on Friday, May 24th at 2 p.m. All members of the press and approved media members are invited to attend. Please plan to arrive in the room by 1:30 p.m. 

About Denny O'Neil:
Dennis (just call him “Denny”) O’Neil started his career in comics in 1966 as a writer at Marvel Comics on titles such as Strange Tales, Daredevil, and X-Men. By 1968, he had moved over to DC Comics, and in 1970, he turned the comics world on its ear.

O’Neil wrote a run on DC’s Green Lantern/Green Arrow starting with issue #76 that brought comic books into America’s conflicted living rooms.  O’Neil’s Green Lantern/Green Arrow stories dealt not so much with common criminals or spacefaring menaces, but rather addressed important issues such as war and peace, race relations, free speech, drug addiction, and even our relationship with God.  O’Neil helped comic books “grow up” at a particularly tumultuous time in American history.

O’Neil also brought sweeping change to Batman, returning the character to his street-level roots after the campiness of the 1960s TV series.  O’Neil kept a focus on social justice, adding a heavy dose of philanthropy to Batman’s alter ego, millionaire Bruce Wayne.  O’Neil introduced Leslie Thompkins, a doctor who runs a skid row clinic with the financial support of Bruce Wayne, to the Batman supporting cast. Thompkins was loosely based on Dorothy Day, a famed activist whom O’Neil had previously met as part of the Catholic Worker movement.

By 1980, O’Neil had returned to Marvel, where he took over as editor of several titles including Daredevil and Moon Knight.  In this, he mentored an incredible generational array of new talent such as Frank Miller, Bill Sienkiewicz, and David Mazzucchelli, honing them into top professionals and landmark artists.

In 1986, O’Neil returned to DC as an editor, and remained in that capacity there until he semi-retired in 2000.  O’Neil kept an eye on the next generation of writers and artists, teaching at New York City’s School of Visual Arts.  He remains a strong champion of peace and social justice to this day.
