ALL-NEW LOS ANGELES HAUNTED HAYRIDE TO BE REVEALED BY THIRTEENTH FLOOR ENTERTAINMENT GROUP AT MIDSUMMER SCREAM

LONG BEACH, CA - Midsummer Scream, the world’s largest Halloween and horror fan convention, is thrilled to announce a panel presentation from Thirteenth Floor Entertainment Group, which owns multiple haunted attractions and events across the nation.
 
In 2018, Thirteenth Floor Entertainment Group acquired the assets of Ten Thirty One Productions, which owned the Los Angeles Haunted Hayride (LAHH). Guests will experience a completely re-imagined LA Haunted Hayride in Griffith Park this Halloween season, which will be unveiled at Midsummer Scream by the event’s new Creative Director, Jon Cooke, of Plague Productions.
 
The presentation will take place at the Long Beach Convention Center on Sunday, August 4, and will feature Chris Stafford, CEO/Founding Partner of Thirteenth Floor Entertainment Group; Warren Conard, Director of Operations/Founding Partner of Thirteenth Floor Entertainment Group; Jon Cooke, Owner/Creative Director of Plague Productions; and Melissa Carbone, Founder of Ten Thirty One Productions and Producer of the Los Angeles Haunted Hayride. The presentation will be hosted by Ted Dougherty, Writer/Director at Plague Productions.

Bringing Jon Cooke on as the attraction’s Creative Director is an exciting new chapter for the Hayride, and we couldn’t be more curious to see what he and his team have in store for us as they give Midsummer fans an exclusive, behind-the-scenes look at the mysterious town of Midnight Falls, and the strange characters that dwell there!”
 
In addition to their exciting panel presentation, Thirteenth Floor Entertainment Group/LA Haunted Hayride will have a large show floor presence this year at Midsummer Scream, where guests will get their first in-person look at part of the town, Midnight Falls, and some of its infamous locals.
 
Midsummer Scream continues to be a beacon within the Halloween, horror, and haunt community, drawing fans from across America and beyond to Long Beach each summer. Event Hosted by The Society for the Promotion of Japanese Animation
Santa Ana, Calif. (July 11, 2019) – The Los Angeles Convention Center was the epicenter for anything and everything Japanese pop-culture as nearly three-hundred-fifty-thousand attendees gathered over five days to celebrate at Anime Expo (AX), the largest celebration of this genre in North America. Produced annually by The Society for the Promotion of Japanese Animation (SPJA), this five-day extravaganza, held July 3 – July 7, attracted enthusiastic fans from more than 78 countries and had an estimated economic impact for the City of Los Angeles and area hotels and businesses of more than $100 million.

During the event, fans were treated to special performances, exclusive screenings, premieres, and sneak peeks as more than 150 guests and industry professionals made appearances. Additionally, Guests of Honor, performers, voice actors, and creators were in attendance to share their talents, visions and professional advice.

AX’s huge costumed community flocked to the Entertainment Hall’s dedicated cosplay area to pose within interactive photo sets, attendees were wowed by the innovative designs during the Fashion Show, enjoyed concerts, panels and many more immersive experiences all celebrating the genre.

The Exhibit, Entertainment and Kentia Halls featured more than 350 Exhibitors and in excess of 500 artists covering 205,000 sq ft.  AX 2019 offered an extensive array of activities which  featured 900+ hours of programming and 50+ hours of AX live streamed content reaching fans in 73 countries.

To ensure that AX ran smoothly for all attendees, exhibitors, and guests, more than 1,600 volunteers collectively put in nearly 60,000 hours throughout the week.

Anime Expo featured plenty of films making their debuts, such as the highly anticipated exclusive screening of the newest animated Pokémon movie, Pokémon: Mewtwo Strikes Back—Evolution,  “MY HERO ACADEMIA” Season 4 Premiere, Aniplex’s Rascal Does Not Dream of a Dreaming Girl and “Gundam NT”  World Premiere in 4DX. 

Concerts: Music always plays a big part of the AX experience and this year’s concerts showed the diversity of tastes with an exlectic mix of music as school idol group Aqours performed Love Live! Sunshine!! Aqours Wolrd LoveLive! In LA ~ BRAND NEW WAVE ~ on two nights and legendary composer and musician Yoshihiro Ike, one of the most recognized composers in Japan, entertained with his international debut performance on Sunday, July 8 with Yoshihiro Ike: Anime Soundtrack World.

Guests of Honor
: Many industry guests shared their knowledge and passion with attendees including Guests of Honor Yoshinori Ono, Rica Matsumoto, Katsuhiro Otomo, Yoshiyuki Sadamoto, and Yusuke Kozaki. 

Artist Alley and The Annex: Always a must-do at AX, the largest gathering of amateur and semi-professional artists at any convention, Artist Alley boasted more than 500 artists from across the US and all over the world who showcased a variety of handmade creations for sale to attendees, including original artwork, prints, crafts, clothing and comic collections. This year’s featured artists were Shinnosuke Uchida, the world’s only wall-manga live paint artist, and LA-based pop culture artist Jared Yamahata. Featuring cutting-edge, fashion-forward designers, The Annex welcomed h. NAOTO, HYPLAND, Hot Topic, Metamorphose, Acryl CANDY, and amnesiA&paramenesiA showcasing their unique creations and clothing lines.

Next year, Anime Expo is scheduled to return to the Los Angeles Convention Center from July 2 - 5. Premier Fan and 4-day badges for AX 2020 will go on sale August 16, 2019.

Crunchyroll Wraps Anime Expo 2019 with World Premieres, Record Sales, New Series and More

What: Crunchyroll, the world’s most popular anime brand, just wrapped an action-packed weekend at Anime Expo in Los Angeles with three exclusive world premieres, more than ten special guests from Japan and the U.S., and eight hosted panels. 

The onsite Crunchyroll store experienced record-breaking sales this year, with more than a 30% increase year-over-year. More than 75% of the Anime Expo-exclusive merchandise sold out before the end of the convention, including the Zero Two statue from “DARLING in the FRANXX” and the purple “Mob Psycho 100” hoodie, which sold out early on the second day. The Crunchyroll Hime figure from Kotobukiya also sold out onsite, but is still available online. 

Thousands attended the Crunchyroll HQ offsite, which was full of interactive activations like the training room for “The RIsing of the Shield Hero,” and a demo station for upcoming Crunchyroll Games titles including “Mob Psycho 100: Pyschic Battle” and “Attack on Titan: TACTICS.”

Additional Crunchyroll highlights from Anime Expo 2019 include: 
  • Exclusive world premieres - Crunchyroll treated fans to the exclusive world premieres of “Dr. STONE,” “To the Land of the Sacred Abandoned Beasts,” and “In/Spectre,” before their simulcast premieres on platform. 
  • “World’s on Fire” teaser from Mike Shinoda - Linkin Park’s Mike Shinoda stopped by the Crunchyroll industry panel to unveil a preview of his new music video “World’s on Fire.” He shared the trailer, behind the scenes characters images and also discussed his deep connection to anime sharing “My music and anime have had a long history crossing paths, from the fan videos edited over Linkin Park's music, to our original video for ‘Breaking The Habit.’ This new video for ‘World’s On Fire’ is a lighthearted video that focuses on a female protagonist as she learns to control her unique power." Fun fact from the panel - Mike is also a big fan of “Naruto” anime music videos! 
  • ​​New series announcements - Crunchyroll announced a slate of upcoming simulcast series including, “Isekai Cheat Magician,” “That Time I Got Reincarnated as a Slime OAD,” “A Destructive God Sits Next To Me,” “GRANBELM,” “Do You Love Your Mom and Her Two-Hit Multi-Target Attacks?” and two “Konosuba” OVAs from seasons one and two. 
  • Crunchyroll panels and special guests - Crunchyroll offered fans eight panels over the weekend, including discussions with creators and voice actors, industry panels for both Crunchyroll and Crunchyroll games, a discussion on the history of Crunchyroll Hime and a deep dive into “Stay Crunchy.” Special guests included Shusuke Katagiri, “Dr. STONE” producer, Hiroyuki Honda, Weekly Shonen Jump editor, and “In/Spectre” voice actor Mamoru Miyano, among many others.
  • “One Punch Man” in game event in “Grand Summoners”  - Crunchyroll Games announced the return of the “One Punch Man” epic crossover event with “Grand Summoners,” in partnership with Good Smile Company and NextNinja. 
  • Crunchyroll digital drops - Crunchyroll launched a new app available for download here over Anime Expo, empowering attendees to collect and trade virtual stickers from various anime titles via QR Codes in specially placed locations throughout the convention center.

Gundam 40th Beyond Booth

Anaheim, California – (June 27, 2019) - Disney on Broadway is thrilled to return to D23 Expo, in Anaheim, California, to celebrate its 25th anniversary. Join Broadway’s brightest stars as they present an exclusive concert, Disney on Broadway: A 25th Anniversary Celebration, in Hall D23 on Saturday, August 24, at 3:30 p.m.

​Hosted by Tony Award®-nominee Gavin Lee (Mary Poppins, Beauty and the Beast), the 75-minute concert will feature Heidi Blickenstaff (Freaky Friday, The Little Mermaid), Ashley Brown (Mary Poppins, Beauty and the Beast, On The Record), Kissy Simmons (The Lion King), Josh Strickland (Tarzan) and Alton Fitzgerald White (The Lion King). A six-piece band, led by Jim Abbott, will accompany performers as they lead the audience through Disney on Broadway’s Tony Award-winning catalogue. The performance will feature songs from Beauty and the Beast, The Lion King, Aida, Tarzan®, Mary Poppins, The Little Mermaid, Newsies, Aladdin, Freaky Friday and Frozen. (Talent is subject to change)
Disney on Broadway fans can also celebrate this milestone anniversary by visiting the VR (virtual reality) theatre on the D23 Expo floor. The brand-new VR experience puts you center stage in Aladdin, Frozen and The Lion King’s biggest Broadway production numbers, featuring Broadway’s Caissie Levy (Elsa), Major Attaway (Genie), Telly Leung (Aladdin) and Tshidi Manye (Rafiki).

Ashley Brown originated the title role in Mary Poppins on Broadway for which she received Outer Critics, Drama League and Drama Desk nominations for “Best Actress.” Ms. Brown also starred as Mary Poppins in the national tour of Mary Poppins where she garnered a Garland Award for “Best Performance in a Musical.” Ms. Brown’s other Broadway credits include Belle in Beauty and the Beast, as well as starring in the national tours of Jack O’Brien’s The Sound of Music and Disney's On the Record. Ms. Brown has starred in both Oklahoma! and Showboat at Chicago’s Lyric Opera and has performed with virtually all of the top orchestras in North America including the Boston Pops (twice), the New York Philharmonic, the Hollywood Bowl Orchestra at Disney Hall, the Pittsburgh Symphony, the New York Pops at Carnegie Hall (five times), Fort Worth Symphony, the Cincinnati Pops and Philadelphia Orchestra (twice). Ms. Brown’s PBS special called Ashley Brown: Call Me Irresponsible received a PBS Telly Award. Other television credits include NBC’s The Sound of Music. Ms. Brown is the voice of Disneyland celebrating its 60th anniversary singing the newly penned Richard Sherman song “A Kiss Goodnight.” Ms. Brown’s album of Broadway and American Songbook standards, Speak Low, and her newly recorded Christmas EP, The Secret of Christmas, are available on Ghostlight/Warner Brothers.

Gavin Lee just finished playing Lumière in Disney’s Beauty and the Beast. In New York, he most recently played the Grinch at Madison Square Garden. Before this, he originated the role of Squidward in SpongeBob SquarePants the Broadway Musical (Drama Desk Award and Tony Award nomination). Before that, he played Thenadier in the Broadway revival of Les Misérables. He originated the role of Bert in the West End and Broadway productions of Mary Poppins (Drama Desk and Theatre World Awards, Olivier and Tony Award nominations). Gavin has appeared at Carnegie Hall in Showboat and in the world premiere of Holiday Inn at Goodspeed Opera House. TV credits include Law and Order: SVU, The Good Wife and  White Collar. His favorite London theatre credits include Top Hat, Crazy for You, Peggy Sue Got Married, Me and My Girl, Over My Shoulder, Oklahoma!, Contact and Singin’ in the Rain. Gavin has performed his solo cabaret in New York, Chicago and on Disney Cruise Line.

Kissy Simmons is a native of Floral City, Florida, and graduated from the University of South Florida with a B.A. in Speech Communications. She was also a NCAA Division 1 Track and Field athlete. Kissy grew up playing the keyboard and singing in church, and was a State Champion high jumper at Citrus High School. After graduating from the University of South Florida, she got her professional theatre debut at the David A. Straz, Jr. Center for the Performing Arts where she was seen in Little Shop of Horrors (Ronnette), Jacques Brel and other seasonal cabaret shows. Broadway credits include: The Lion King (Nala). Josh Strickland is a native of Charleston, South Carolina. In 2006, Strickland created the leading role of Tarzan in Disney’s musical Tarzan® on Broadway. In 2009, he made his starring Las Vegas debut in Peepshow at Planet Hollywood Casino & Resort while concurrently co-starring in the hit E! reality show Holly's World. Strickland debuted his first single "Report to the Floor," which skyrocketed to the top five on the iTunes Dance Charts the first week of its release, followed by “Last Dance.” In 2013, Strickland joined the cast of Vegas! The Show at the Planet Hollywood Casino & Resort in Las Vegas in a starring role. Top headlines for this first-ever “Halloween Horror Nights” Fan Preview include a chance to be among the first to explore this year’s 10 terrifying new mazes, bragging rights to be among the first to post on social media, special themed photo ops with scare-actors, DJ music performances, plus receive a special commemorative credential, in addition to possibly seeing favorite celebrities attending the event’s red carpet premiere which takes place that same evening.
