[Long Beach, Calif.] – The Queen Mary’s Dark Harbor hosted a bloodcurdling season of terror that concluded Friday, November 2. With nearly 150,000 thrill-seekers passing through the gates over 23 nights of terror, Southern California’s most authentically haunted experience saw massive crowds flock nightly to experience the newly re-imagined, choose-your-own-adventure mega haunt.

Dubbed the most sinister season yet, Dark Harbor 2018 unveiled an entirely new park footprint along with new maze designs, interactive alternate paths, and four all-new captivating secret speakeasies and bars. The Dark Harbor team also welcomed the macabre and twisted mind of innovative Dark Harbor Production Designer, Jon Cooke. The season unveiled fan-favorite scares within six signature mazes, completely redesigned and reimagined. Menacing mischief masked the park nightly as haunt enthusiasts solved riddles and puzzles to uncover sought-after wooden tokens in hopes of gaining access to the secret drinking areas hidden within attractions, mazes and throughout the park footprint.

For the landmark Queen Mary which produces the yearly fright nights, 2018 proved the most successful year yet, with revenue up over seven percent from the same time in 2017. The multi-million-dollar production brought a dramatic increase in overall October sales by six percent beating planned forecasting. Urban Commons, the operator of the former Cunard luxury liner, saw growth in stalwart attractions such as Happy Haunting Hour, Evil Express and Sinister Swings which continue to show year-over-year growth while showcasing the aforementioned activations. The Dark Harbor event was not the only area of revenue growth. Queen Mary experienced strong sales in food and beverage, overnight stays and supplemental experiences such as tours and attractions including Aiden Sinclair’s “Illusions of the Passed.”

Dark Harbor 2018 became a favorite of the scare season with Hollywood’s hottest celebrities. Oscar-nominated actress Margot Robbie joined in on the frightful fun to experience the bone-chilling mazes along with model and actress Cara Delevingne and friends on Halloween night. Members of pop-sensation R5 braved the all-new Dark Hour - Behind the Screams experience aboard the Queen Mary for an unforgettable feast and cocktail hour. Halloween’s favorite couple, Vanessa Hudgens and Austin Butler, also experienced Dark Harbor along with sister Stella Hudgens, actress Ashley Tisdale (High School Musical), actress Cierra Ramirez (ABC’s The Fosters) and influencer Alexa Losey (Relationship Status). Dumplin’ star, Danielle MacDonald and close friends also immersed themselves within the frightful fun at Dark Harbor this season.

All-New Documentary Series by Universal Parks & Resorts Warms Hearts & Inspires in Time For The Holidays

Earlier in 2018, Universal Parks & Resorts launched the Grow Bolder campaign to encourage kids to take a stand, to be bold and fearless. As the narrator states in the TV spot, “fearless kids aren’t born… they’re made.”
 
The new Grow Bolder documentary series highlights three real life inspiring, fearless kids:
  • Charlotte, 10 years old, the entrepreneur and philanthropist
    • Three years ago, Charlotte created ‘Stitches by Charlotte’ where hand sewn dolls are donated to children needing comfort before facing scary medical procedures –something she knows all too well having experienced multiple procedures to repair a cleft palate early in her life.
  • Robbie, 11 years old, the National Park activist
    • Last year, Robbie Bond learned that some of his favorite national parks and monuments were being threatened, so he took a bold stand. At 9 years old, Robbie founded a non-profit called Kids Speak for Parks to inspire others to speak up to save America’s parks and monuments for generations to come.
  • Hannah, 17 years old, the fearless cyclist
    • For the first ten years of her life, Hannah Jordan lived in hospitals, sleeping over 20 hours a day as she was living with a glucose deficiency disease, but that doesn’t stop her from achieving her dreams. Watch Hannah’s brave adventure as she’s known as “The Hannibal”, aspiring Olympic cyclist.

D23 ANNOUNCES NEW SLATE OF MAGICAL EVENTS TO DELIGHT DISNEY FANS ACROSS THE COUNTRY

In honor of D23’s 10th anniversary, Disney’s official fan club will return to Walt’s birthplace, head to Sleepy Hollow, bring its Lunch with a Disney Legend events to new locations, host additional tours of The Walt Disney Studios lot, and more.​​
BURBANK, Calif. – November 16, 2018 – In 2019, D23: The Official Disney Fan Club will celebrate its 10th anniversary and, to mark the occasion, D23 is adding extra pixie dust to some of its most popular events while introducing new experiences, as well.

RETURN TO WALT’S BIRTHPLACE: In 2016 and 2017, D23 Members had the amazing opportunity to visit Walt Disney’s birthplace in Chicago. The home, which is being restored, was constructed by Walt’s father, Elias, and designed by his mother, Flora. This June, D23 Members will have the chance to see the incredible progress made on bringing the home back to its initial glory.

SCREENINGS ON THE WALT DISNEY STUDIOS LOT AND AT WALT DISNEY WORLD RESORT: Throughout the year, D23 will once again offer special screenings on both coasts of classic Disney favorites. As part of D23’s anniversary celebration, all the films screened will also be celebrating milestones, including Up (10th anniversary), Sleeping Beauty (60th), Lucasfilm’sIndiana Jones and the Temple of Doom (35th), and The Lion King (25th).

THE OFFICIAL WALT DISNEY STUDIOS TOUR—PRESENTED BY D23: D23 Gold Member-exclusive tours of the historic Studio lot return and, for 2019, the tour—traditionally held four times a year—will run monthly starting in March and will include VIP experiences on select tours. Guests are able to take a look inside the Walt Disney Archives and see Walt Disney’s office suite during the tour, which offers fans a unique perspective on historic moments from Disney films, television shows, and theme parks.

D23’S LUNCH WITH A DISNEY LEGEND: Beginning in January, D23 brings back these exclusive luncheons with Disney luminaries. This year, D23 will be crossing the country so more fans than ever can enjoy the opportunity to meet Disney Legends and hear their fascinating stories, including an intimate lunch with Linda Larkin—the speaking voice of Jasmine in Aladdin—in New York City next April.

D23 HEADS TO THE HOLLOW: To celebrate the 70th anniversary of The Legend of Sleepy Hollow—and its infamous headless villain—D23 will hold a special event in Sleepy Hollow, New York, with a screening, special guests, reception, and more.

ADVANCE SCREENINGS: Next year, D23 Members can look forward to a host of exclusive, advance screenings across the country in partnership with our friends from The Walt Disney Studios. This year, D23 brought movie magic to 35 cities across the country, including Atlanta, Boston, Chicago, Dallas, Denver, Detroit, Houston, New York City, Philadelphia, and San Francisco. Plus, this year D23 Members attended the red-carpet premiere of Disney’s Christopher Robin.D23 Gold Members across the U.S. will once again be selected at random to receive complimentary movie passes, and in honor of D23’s 10 years, 10,000 pairs of tickets will be sent throughout 2019.
SIGNATURE EVENTS: D23 will bring back foodie favorite Sip & Stroll during the Epcot International Food & Wine Festival. Walt Disney Imagineering’s exclusive merchandise store, Mickey’s of Glendale, will open its doors to members. Guests at Walt Disney World Resort will once again make the holiday season bright next December, and on the West Coast, members will be invited back to The Walt Disney Studios to Light Up the Season. MEMBER MIXERS: After mixing and mingling at complimentary gatherings in places such as Houston, Seattle, and San Diego in 2018, D23 will bring more mixers to U.S. cities in 2019, including a special San Diego Comic-Con mixer to celebrate Marvel Comics’ 80th anniversary.

D23 EXPO 2019: The Ultimate Disney Fan Event returns. It’s D23’s biggest event of the year, when all of Disney’s wonderful worlds come together once again August 23–25, 2019, at the Anaheim Convention Center for three magical days of once-in-a-lifetime live performances, star-studded presentations, exclusive collectibles, and more celebrating Disney, Pixar, Marvel, and Star Wars.

Plus, 2019 will mark a year-long Fanniversary celebration for D23’s 10th anniversary. Every year, D23 honors a Disney favorite that has reached a milestone anniversary. And in celebration of a decade of D23, the Fanniversarywill continue all year long with additional special events to be announced, new member discounts, and more.

Universal City, CA, November 13, 2018 – Universal Studios Hollywood is off to the races with its all-new “Running Universal,” a series of fun runs that kicks off with an energetic Minion–themed 5K on Saturday, May 11, 2019.
 
The inaugural Minion Run, featuring Illumination’s mischievous Minions from the popular “Despicable Me Minion Mayhem” ride, invites participants ages five and older (of all experience levels) to wind their way around Universal Studios Hollywood and through parts of Universal Studios’ historic backlot, made famous in more than 8,000 movies and television shows.  The run will give participants an unprecedented insider’s view of the Entertainment Capital of L.A. 
 
Starting at Universal Studios Hollywood’s iconic front gates, participants will pass through some of the theme park’s immersive areas and attractions before winding their way along the historic backlot and into the magical world of movie-making as they head toward  the finish line at CityWalk’s 5 Towers outdoor concert stage.
 
Along the 3.1 mile course, participants will be entertained by some of their favorite Universal Studios Hollywood characters including the Minions.

Debut of Calico River Rapids Joins fan Favorite Events and new Entertainment Offering

​Buena Park, Calif. – A new expedition in an uncharted territory awaits eager explorers with the upcoming debut of Calico River Rapids, opening at Knott’s Berry Farm in summer 2019.  Knott’s popular Bigfoot Rapids white water raft ride will undergo a major renovation with the addition of new features to the attraction including new animatronics, themed show scenes, a new story overlay and plenty of dynamic water effects. The arrival of Calico River Rapids is one of the many exciting experiences that Knott’s guests can enjoy in 2019.
 
Calico River Rapids will take voyagers on a search for new land through the outskirts of Calico, the richly themed area in Knott’s esteemed Ghost Town. Guests will journey through the authentic setting with the help of legendary frontiersmen who have plotted the path for settlers to explore. Rafters will encounter a variety of wild surprises along the way such as roaring rapids, indigenous wildlife, and peculiar homesteaders.  The circular raft ride, which seats six passengers, will traverse through unexpected twists and turns, rushing waters and rapid currents as it navigates the unexplored river path.
 
The attraction will come to life with new animatronics and special effects designed and manufactured by Garner Holt Productions, Inc., the world’s largest designer and manufacturer of animatronics for theme parks.   
 
The park’s popular Seasons of Fun events will kick off with the return of the newly-expanded Knott’s PEANUTS Celebration, a unique event dedicated to the beloved PEANUTS characters. Guests are invited to step inside the pages of a Charles M. Schulz comic strip as the characters take over the entire park, weekends from January 26 – March 10, 2019 and on President’s Day, Monday, February 18.
 
In spring, the much-anticipated Knott’s Boysenberry Festival returns with countless one-of-a-kind boysenberry inspired food and drink offerings created by the Knott’s culinary team. Each year the menu ranges from deliciously sweet desserts to zesty savory dishes, plus tasty beverages bursting with tangy boysenberry flavors. Unique entertainment and an array of artisan crafters round out the festival. Due to the festival’s increasing popularity, it will be expanding to a full month of deliciousness from March 29 – April 28, 2019. 
 
In summer 2019, the fan favorite Old West adventure will continue with the return of Ghost Town Alive!, as a new storyline set in the town of Calico is unraveled for guests to discover starting May 25 – August 18 and weekends from August 24 through Labor Day, September 2. During Ghost Town Alive! guests may return to the streets of Calico and experience an authentic western adventure by becoming a star in the day’s evolving storyline, as they unlock adventures through interactions with the townsfolk or by joining in on the town’s activities. And as night falls, even more summer fun will continue throughout the park with new entertainment offerings.
 
For fall, the spooktacular family-friendly daytime Halloween event, Knott’s Spooky Farm, will invite families with little ghouls ages 3-11 to celebrate the spooky season exclusively on weekends starting September 28 – October 27, 2019, and Halloween day.  Knott’s Spooky Farm will offer little ones delightfully wicked Halloween themed activities, live entertainment and much more.
 
As winter rolls in, the feeling of Christmas will truly be discovered at Knott’s Merry Farm, where joy will be in season from November 22, 2019 – January 5, 2020. Knott’s Merry Farm will host holiday cheer for park goers as they create new holiday memories set to the backdrop of a true classic Christmas.
 
A 2019 Season Pass is the best way to experience the adventures of Calico River Rapids along with an entire year of seasonal fun. With a 2019 Season Pass, guests can enjoy all of Knott’s Seasons of Fun events next year, plus one free admission in 2018. Will Be Making a Rare Appearance On Saturday, May 18
New York, Wednesday, October 24, 2018 - Atomic Crush Events' (ACE) Comic Con Revolution Ontario (CCR ONT) is proud to announce that voice acting icon Peter Cullen will be attending this year CCR ONT on Saturday, May 18.  CCR ONT is currently Cullen’s only scheduled appearance in California for 2019.

Cullen is best known as the voice of the unforgettable leader of the Autobots – Optimus Prime!  He has voiced the character in the Transformers movies, cartoons and video games for nearly 35 years.  Other notable roles include The Transformers' Ironhide, Disney’s melancholy loveable donkey Eeyore, Chip 'n Dale's Rescue Rangers' Monterey Jack, the evil KARR of Knight Rider fame, Voltron's King Alfor and many, many more.

As part of the days programming a, 50-minute one-on-one panel with Peter will give fans a rare opportunity to hear from Cullen himself about how for the past 35 years he has portrayed the heroic Optimus Prime across cartoons, video games and feature films.

Universal City, CA, October 23, 2018 – For the first time, Universal Studios Hollywood offers guests a “lights on” walk-through experience of the all-new “Stranger Things” maze during the day, providing an authentic, behind-the-scenes look at how the Upside Down comes to life at “Halloween Horror Nights” from Monday, October 29 through Friday, November 2. The self-guided tour of the movie-quality sets featured in the “Stranger Things” maze is included in the price of daytime admission to the theme park.

“Halloween Horror Nights” continues select nights now through Sunday, November 4, adding one more terrifying night due to popular demand.

Working collaboratively with Netflix, along with the creators and executive producer of the blockbuster series—Matt Duffer, Ross Duffer and Shawn Levy, the maze is an authentic representation of “Stranger Things,” designed to transport guests into artfully recreated scenes and storylines in season one. From the menacing Hawkins National Laboratory, under the U.S. Department of Energy, to the Byers home adorned with an erratic display of flashing Christmas lights and the eerie Upside Down woods oozing a shower of floating orb-like spores, guests will discover how the chilling new maze offers surprising twists and unexpected turns around every corner – in the light of day.

Universal City, California, October 23, 2018 – Universal Studios Hollywood hosts its first-ever kid-friendly Halloween celebration, inviting all children 12 years of age and under to don creative costumes to Trick-or-Treat at the theme park along with some of their favorite characters on Saturday, October 27 and Sunday, October 28 from 10am to 4pm.

Halloween-themed characters located throughout the theme park include Hello Kitty as The Bride of Frankenstein, Illumination’s Minion Monsters, SpongeBob SquarePants and Patrick Star, Scooby Doo and the gang, Curious George, Woody Woodpecker, Dracula, Frankenstein and The Mummy.

Other entertaining activities include a Halloween Party in the Plaza with a live DJ, music, games and costume showcase. Also, Halloween treat decorating will be available for purchase. All children 12 years of age and under will receive a free carnival game voucher redeemable at Super Silly Fun Land, located adjacent to the “Despicable Minion Mayhem” ride or Krustyland’s Carnival Games, located adjacent to “The Simpsons™ Ride.”

The Halloween celebration is included in the price of theme park admission to Universal Studios Hollywood. A specially-designed activity map will be provided complementary to help navigate the many memorably-ghoulish moments.

[Long Beach, Calif.] –The Queen Mary’s Dark Harbor opened its gates on Thursday, September 27 unveiling a spectacle of newly reimagined, terrifying attractions with more monsters and scares than ever before. Thousands of wicked thrill seekers joined the cast of sinister spirits for the haunt’s darkest season yet. The blood curdling terror of Dark Harbor will continue with nightly themed entertainment and terrifying special events on select nights through Friday, November 2.

Offering bone-chilling entertainment and special events throughout the frightful season, Dark Harbor’s gruesome and bloodcurdling spirits have descended upon the legendary Queen Mary for 23 nights. The Aerial stage holds nightly spine-tingling performances by world-renown contortionists and silk aerialists, with spell-binding sideshows, DJs and more. Nightly shows on the Pyre stage welcome the Queen Mary spirits showing off their hair-raising talents with fire breathing, circus performances, monster dance parties, live music, and more.

Opening weekend welcomed thousands of guests each night including some of Hollywood’s hottest celebrities, ready to test their fears at Dark Harbor’s darkest season yet. Star of AMC’s The Walking Dead, Brighton Sharbino, joined thrill seekers on opening night along with Nickelodeon's Bella and The Bulldog star Brec Bassinger and boyfriend, Dylan Summerall (Keys). Lights out star, Gabriel Bateman accompanied sister Talitha Bateman (Annabelle), through the depths uncovering frights along the way, including Dark Harbor’s iconic Captain. Those daring enough have the opportunity to stumble upon the demented delights brewing within Dark Harbor. Make a stop at the Gallow’s Healing Well and mingle with monsters in hopes of gaining hints and access to The SideBar, Door 13, The Line Up, and The Broken Compass to experience the strongest spirits at Dark Harbor. Pageant of the Monsters Haunted House Returns to Laguna Beach October 26, 27, 28 and 31

LAGUNA BEACH, CA — Just when you thought it was safe to go backstage…The Festival of Arts and Pageant of the Masters brings a “monster” of a good time to Laguna Beach!

Reviving an event from years past, Pageant of the Masters Director Diane Challis Davy presents the Pageant of the Monsters, transforming the Pageant’s backstage into a Haunted House with an artistic twist. The event will take place on October 26, 27, 28 and 31 at the Festival of Arts from 6 - 9:30pm. This is the 5th presentation of Pageant of the Monsters. Davy originated the haunted house idea in 1996, it was repeated in 1997 and then again in 2007 and 2013.   

This year, the Pageant of the Masters' creative team of artists and technicians has reunited to resurrect the acclaimed Halloween Haunted House as part of the Pageant of the Masters 85th Anniversary celebration. Guests will be directed through the amphitheater, Pageant workshops and stage, which have been transformed into a series of eerie artistically presented vignettes.

Themed Raiders of the Lost Art, guests will follow the footsteps of legendary archeologist and adventurer “Cincinnati Smith” on a perilous quest to recover treasures from exotic locales across the globe. Trek through the creepy jungle empire of the Amazon to the desert tombs of the pharaohs in this whimsical and haunted spoof.

Davy reveals, “It’s not your usual haunted house. It will be a little scary and spooky, but lots of fun for the whole family.”

In addition to the haunted house, the Festival of Arts will also be holding a scarecrow competition inviting local community groups, clubs, organizations and individuals to participate. Attendees will be able to vote on their favorite from October 26 to 28 and the winners will be announced on October 31. This competition is open to the public and cash prizes will be awarded.
