Universal City, California, October 26, 2017 – In support of its 13th annual “Day of Giving” community outreach program, Universal Studios Hollywood inspires hundreds of employee volunteers to help make a difference to six Los Angeles-based non-profit organizations and nearly 300 homeless children on Thursday, November 9, 2017.

The meaningful “Day of Giving” event is a yearly Universal Studios Hollywood tradition designed to connect employees with diverse community organizations, many of which are beneficiaries of the
Discover A Star Foundation whose mission is to empower individuals and families to lead more productive and fulfilling lives.

As the events take place throughout the Southland, Universal Studios Hollywood will serve as home base for one of the six locations, hosting
Operation School Bell and nearly 300 homeless children.  

In support of
Operation School Bell, homeless children from over 20 LAUSD elementary and middle schools will be treated to a variety of back to school needs, including new clothing, sneakers and school supplies. The children will enjoy an afternoon of theme park fun, experiencing “The Wizarding World of Harry PotterTM,” “Despicable Me Minion Mayhem” and “Super Silly Fun Land” and venturing aboard the world-famous Studio Tour.

In tandem with festivities at the park, the day-long event will also deploy hundreds of employee volunteers around Los Angeles to help support community-building efforts at the following organizations:  
AIDS Project L.A. (APLA), where employees will volunteer at the North Hollywood food pantry and help assemble food bags for clients; Downtown Women’s Center,  where volunteers will help prepare brown bag lunches & toiletry kits for their clients in need; Tree People, where employee volunteers will assist with tree care, maintain trails, and remove invasive plants; Union Station Homeless Services where participants will prepare and serve lunch; and Shane’s Inspiration, where employees will take part in a “play date” with special needs children at a nearby Shane’s Inspiration playground.

Valencia, California, October 24, 2017- The third new haunt at Knott’s Scary Farm this year is Trick-or-Treat: Lights Out. Armed with only a seemingly faulty flashlight, a stout heart, and a love of horror, unsuspecting trick-or-treaters enter the haunted home of the Green Witch and plunge into terrors amid total darkness.
This year’s Trick or Treat maze features new, state-of-the-art effects and high-impact scares. A flashlight may seem like small comfort in such a setting, but wait—this isn’t just any flashlight. This is a Torch Technology powered flashlight- a specially made, programmable, IR (infrared)-controlled flashlight; the flashlights both receive and transmit IR, allowing each guest’s experience in the maze to change based on where they point the beam of light.
The combination of a top-tier maze, total darkness, and the flashlight are what make Trick or Treat the expedition into horror that it is. The haunt offers a mélange of fear, anxiety, shock, horror, and a rising sense of urgency to find one’s way out.

Knott’s Scary Farm’s Trick or Treat maze debuted in 2012 and is the oldest maze at Knott’s Scary Farm. Ken Parks, Vice President of Entertainment, and Jon Cooke, Entertainment Designer at Knott’s, sat down earlier this year to consider whether to discontinue the maze. “It’s a fan favorite,” said Jon, “and we didn’t want to give it up. So we started looking at what we could do to change it up. That’s when we came across Gantom’s Torch Technology.” The maze opened this season as ‘Trick or Treat: Lights Out.’

The Guest Experience
“It puts the guests into a spot where they’re a character in the attraction,” Cooke Commented. We’re just seeing the beginning of being able to use technology to create these larger, immersive environments,” said Parks. “We’ll be leaning into technology but not losing what made us famous, which is a simple, tactical scare.”

Philip Hernandez, Director of Marketing at Gantom Lighting & Controls, talked about his experience working on Trick or Treat: Lights Out: "Working on this project with the creative team at Knott's has been a dream come true for me, coming from the themed entertainment and Halloween space. Contributing to an experience like this is something I've dreamt about since I was running my home haunt in high school. At Gantom our passion is creating compact technology for creative professionals to use in magical experiences. This is what we live for!"

Behind Torch Technology

Gan explained how the Torch Technology powered flashlight works. “What we’re doing is taking decades-old IR technology that’s in everybody’s remote control and we’re incorporating it into various forms of interaction. What you see at Knott’s is only one iteration of that, one manifestation of a guest walking through a scene and being able to trigger effects. Torch technology is a communication technology among multiple points, multiple people, and people and scenery.

“The Torch isn’t limited to any form factor. We happened to make the flashlight form factor because it was the best fit, thematically, for a haunted house setting. We can incorporate it into virtually anything.”

To further enhance the frights, tour groups will also be given a flashlight to guide their way through the dimly lit attraction. The all-new “Christmas in The Wizarding World of Harry Potter” experience will resonate throughout the immersive land this yuletide season transforming the iconic HogwartsTM castle into a dazzling light projection spectacular, while the quaint town of Hogsmeade village shines brightly with décor uniquely themed to each of the individual storefronts. 

The a cappella Frog Choir, comprised of Hogwarts students and their giant throaty frogs, will perform all-new holiday themed songs.

A wide selection of all-new custom-made Christmas ornaments created especially for “The Wizarding World of Harry Potter” will also debut this season. Collectibles include a variety of decorative Hogwarts castle snow globes, Hogwarts crest and mascot ornaments representing each of the houses, as well as a collection of unique tree toppers and house pennant garland.

Newly introduced holiday-themed fare and the eagerly-awaited seasonal return of hot Butterbeer will further complement the overall experience.

“Christmas in The Wizarding World of Harry Potter” will take place daily from November 24, 2017 through January 7, 2018.

The all-new “Christmas in The Wizarding World of Harry Potter” experience invites guests to celebrate this special time of year in J.K. Rowling’s compelling Wizarding World for themselves. 

As night falls on Hogsmeade village, “The Magic of Christmas at Hogwarts TM Castle” will illuminate Hogwarts™ School of Witchcraft and Wizardry with colorful imagery and impressive dimensional animations that dance across Hogwarts castle in tandem to a musical arrangement from the Harry Potter movies.

“Christmas in The Wizarding World of Harry Potter” represents the immersive land’s first holiday themed program since opening at Universal Studios Hollywood in 2016.

Grinchmas™” returns to Universal Studios Hollywood with a Who-lebration of fun fit for The Grinch, his faithful dog Max and a roster of Who-ville Whos.  The annual event comes to life with a towering 60 foot tall whimsical “Grinchmas” tree where Martha May Who-vier and the Who Dolls will take center stage performing energetic musical sets to usher in the Christmas season in style.  The Who-liday Singers—a hip boy-band ensemble—will perform nightly a cappella concerts featuring a mix of Christmas favorites and pop rock.

“Grinchmas” will take place weekends on December 2-3 and 9-10, and daily from December 15 through December 31, 2017.

Spirited holiday décor and festive whimsy will permeate throughout the theme park including “Despicable Me Minion Mayhem” and the adjoining “Super Silly Fun Land” as a crew of very merry and mischievous Minions gleefully spread Christmas cheer to visitors of all ages.

A spectacular 40-foot tall Christmas tree will glisten with 200,000 LED icicles choreographed to the lights and sounds of the season in the 5 Towers plaza. Santa Claus will make nightly appearances and offer special photo opportunities at 5 Towers.

The iconic, dancing water fountain situated at the heart of CityWalk will also make a splash this holiday season. This visually dynamic fountain, displaying over 230 individual power jets, will project streams of choreographed water into the air complemented by red and green LED lights and an array of holiday-themed music.

Free concert performances at “5 Towers” and an eclectic ensemble of talented street performers will make CityWalk the ultimate L.A. holiday destination.

The spirit of the season continues with a wintertime transformation of Universal CityWalk, beginning the day after Thanksgiving on Friday, November 24 through Sunday, December 23, 2017.

New York, NY September 27, 2017 Atomic Crush Events (ACE) is pleased to announce the return of Comic Con Revolution (CCR) to Ontario, California.  The second annual comic con will be twice as large as year one.  Over double the square footage, more exhibitors, more vendors and even more guests.  CCR will be held on May 19 & 20, 2018 at the Ontario Convention Center and will feature two full days of programming. 
The initial guest list boasts some of the most incredible talent in the industry including Jason Aaron (X-Men, Star Wars), Sandy King Carpenter (Film Producer & Comic Writer), Ming Chen (AMCs Comic Book Men), David Lafuente (Archer & Armstrong), Dustin Nguyen (Descender), Stan Sakai (Usagi Yojimbo), Cat Staggs (Wonder Woman), Timothy Zahn (Star Wars Novelist).  Many more additional announcements will be made before Comic Con Revolution opens its doors for year two.
"We've been hard at work reaching out to exciting and talented creators over the last few months,"  commented ACE Co-Founder Mike Scigliano.  "As each one confirms their participation the first thing we think about is how our attendees will react to the news."
Not satisfied with just growing exhibit hall and the guest list, Comic Con Revolution will now play host to two days of programming full of panels and events for the entire family.  They'll also be producing the second annual Cosplay Revolution Costume Contest hosted by Ming Chen with the winners receiving one of the most unique awards ever.  The ultimate goal is to create a full weekend experience.
“We were overwhelmed with the support and love that Ontario and the entire Inland Empire showed Comic Con Revolution last May,” said ACE Co-Founder Drew Seldin.  “It's driven us to produce a bigger and better experience for 2018.”

Pictures’ highly anticipated big-screen animated adventure “THE LEGO® NINJAGO® MOVIE,” in theaters nationwide on September 22, with LEGO NINJAGO Days on September 23 & 24. Guests are invited to come join in some LEGO NINJAGO fun at the family theme park and meet some of their favorite LEGO NINJAGO characters, including Kai, Jay and Nya. Guests can also participate in activities such as building a LEGO mystery mosaic, completing a scavenger hunt in Miniland U.S.A. and be one of the first to play “THE LEGO NINJAGO MOVIE” video game. Taking place at Magic Box LA (1933 S. Broadway, Los Angeles, CA, 90007; with entrance to Creep LA: Lore located at 1986 Hill St, Los Angeles, CA, 90007) in Downtown LA on select dates from October 5th through November 12th, thrill seekers are invited to step into an altered world where folklore comes to life. Whereas fear is best kept buried, Creep LA embraces the folklore to unveil the frightening truth: the scariest stories are often rooted in truth. In this space, stories aren’t just tales around a campfire, but an experience that will creep inside and leave you haunted.

The upcoming Amazon Prime Exclusive’s new series Lore is a six-episode anthology series (streaming globally on Amazon Prime on October 13th) that presents the frightening and often disturbing tales based on real people and events that have led to our modern-day myths and legends. Celebrating the origins of the horror genre, Lore explores the real-life tales behind pop culture’s most legendary horror myths, such as vampires, changelings, werewolves, séances and possessed dolls. Creep LA will bring real-life historical events that birthed many folk tales which ultimately spawned some of our darkest nightmares to life pulling inspiration and using elements from the show.

Upon entering Creep LA: Lore, handlers will guide groups of eight brave souls inside this imagined universe where groups travel through a fully engaging, multi-sensory, 1-hour walk-thru experience within a dynamic and diverse environment of moody rooms, intimate encounters, and terrifying scenarios. At  Creep LA: Lore, everyone is part of the experience whether they intend to be or not.
